Experienced. Certified. Supportive.

Wild Path

I was born premature and legally blind with under-developed lungs, weak muscle tone, as well as other issues.  I am disabled but I haven't let that define or limit my life in any way. I face many challenges but continue to set and achieve my goals.  Through these obstacles I was taught to fight through my challenges. I am a gift and I want to be able to share that message with other people.

It has always been my passion to help people break through the challenges they face.  I focus my time on assisting those with disabilities and their families overcome their struggles. Everyone has desires and goals they want to achieve in life.  At times all you need is just a little push and some support to help achieve your goals. I can be that driving force that helps encourage and direct you to achieve your fullest potential. You are the master of your destiny.

I have found that through my own experience and expertise, I can help people just like me improve their lives.  I would be an ideal and empathetic life coach for you because:

  • I attended Rhodes Wellness College and completed the Certified Life Coach program.

  • I have a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Victoria, where I majored in sociology and psychology.

  • I worked at Dorton College in England as a teacher’s assistant for children with special needs through the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).

  • Through the CNIB and Developmental Disability Resource Center, I mentored and counselled young adults with disabilities and their family members by supporting them to break through their obstacles.

  • I have worked with children with special needs in a recreational setting with the Calgary Between Friends Club.

  • I have been involved in presentations, speeches, and educational events with the CNIB discussing the issues facing people with special needs and their families.

  • I help raise awareness about the problems people with special needs face, advocate on their behalf and provide recommendations for necessary accommodations in the home and work place through the CNIB and National Education Association for Disabled Students.

  • I worked in the financial industry for 13 years and was a licensed financial advisor at FS Financial Strategies for 6 years. During my time at FS, I created the One Less Worry program and served as the department head.

  • Additionally, I developed and oversaw financial strategies which improved the lives of persons with disabilities and their families by easing their financial burden.  I helped clients obtain government grants including the Disability Tax Credit and Registered Disability Savings Plan.

I can use the challenges I've faced in my life along with the experience and expertise I've gained to help others with:

  • Adjusting to a disability

  • Adapting or Transitioning to a new stage in life

  • Gaining Independence

  • Family and Personal Coaching

  • Career and Professional Development

  • Public Speaking

  • Financial Coaching

  • Grief, Loss and Bereavement

  • Anxiety and Stress Management

  • Negative Self-Perception issues

Our path in life is not always how we want it, expect it or even wish it to be, but we are in control of the outcome.  If you do not feel  like you have that control, I will show you how to re-direct your compass in order to help you come to the realisation that you are your own master. I will show you that you already possess the strength and tools within to empower yourself.  You are a strong, courageous and gifted human being that can do whatever you want to do.  My role is to help you re-align your compass so it is once again pointing forward instead of backward. I want to help you find that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.
